The 43rd edition of the Big 5, the largest and most influential construction
industry event in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) lived up
to its name recording a strong bounce back in global attendance with
65,000+ industry professionals from 150+ countries.

The 43rd edition of Big 5 Global, the largest and most influential construction event in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, was officially opened by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council alongside His Excellency Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, the UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, at the Dubai World Trade Centre on 5th December.
Government leaders attending the four-day event included His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management. Several delegates from Dubai Municipality, Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and Dubai’s General Directorate of Civil Defense were also in attendance.
The 43rd edition of Big 5 Global had huge government support with Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure as the main supporting partner, and Dubai Municipality, and Dubai’s General Directorate of Civil Defense as the supporting partners gave their stamp of approval.
More than 65,000 industry professionals from over 150 countries attended the show across four days, of which 75% came from the GCC, 9% from the Middle East (excl. the GCC), 7% from Asia, Australia and Oceania, 6% from Europe, 3% from Africa, and 1% from Americas.
2,000+ global exhibiting companies showcased the latest building solutions and innovative products at Big 5 Global and associated specialized shows at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The four-day event generated a total business of US$2.7 billion of which US$766 million was onsite declared business.
At the 2022 Global Construction Leaders’ Summit, industry leaders reiterated the importance of collaboration toward a more sustainable construction sector while stressing the need for a construction playbook to drive the industry forward.
The Global Construction Impact Summit assessed the current construction ecosystem, where disruptive thinkers, innovators, and ESG advisors came together to share valuable insights for achieving the ambitious regional net-zero targets.
The inaugural edition of ‘Everything Architecture’ welcomed an audience of 1,700+ industry professionals, including architects, designers, specifiers, and property developers, who explored a diverse range of innovative products showcased by top manufacturers. The event also hosted a series of talks conducted by 30+ speakers and four interactive workshops led by industry experts.
The FutureTech Construction Summit united leaders in digital transformation and technology who provided actionable insights to shape the industry and reimagine its future. The discussions focused on the latest developments and innovations in technology for the construction industry.
Digital Construction World hosted more than 750 attendees across a series of Technology Talks, and 55 exhibitors displayed cutting-edge advancements in 3D printing, AI construction management software, geospatial technology, and more.
Organized on the sidelines of Big 5 Global, the Start-Up City saw 50 participating startups from 21 countries showcasing innovation in an industry where the adoption of technology has advanced year on year. The entire start-up ecosystem and the global construction industry came together at the Start-up City, which also hosted the pitch competition.
The event hosted a series of 111 CPD-certified Talks over four days, conducted by 155 experts under 10 themes, including concrete, facilities management, geotechnical & engineering, HVAC R, offsite & modular, project management, solar, stone design, technology, and urban design & landscape, with more than 6,000 attendees.
The Big 5 Global featured over 20 country pavilions with newcomers Oman, Pakistan, and Singapore, presenting latest product innovations and trends impacting the construction sector.
Organized in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Goal 5, the Women in Construction Forum highlighted the impact of a gender-balanced workforce in the industry. Over 22 speakers shared their experiences and key insights, including the UAE’s first female Aircraft Engineer, Aviation Advisor at Midfield Terminal, Dr. Eng Suaad Al Shamsi.
In 2022, the second edition of the Construction Impact Awards recognized sustainable development, technological and digital achievements from 97 nominations across 17 categories, judged by 14 high-profile judges.
